WHEREAS, Wait times at points of entry between the United | ||
States and the United Mexican States are considerable; and | ||
WHEREAS, Wait times result in a reduction in commercial and | ||
economic activity; and | ||
WHEREAS, Wait times produce a significant increase of | ||
negative environmental impacts in the state; and | ||
WHEREAS, Although Texas is a leader in trade relations in the | ||
international marketplace, eradication of wait times at points of | ||
entry would tremendously benefit the state, and every means of | ||
combating it should be explored; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas, | ||
hereby request the lieutenant governor and the speaker of the house | ||
of representatives to create a joint interim committee to study the | ||
effects on international trade on wait times at points of entry | ||
between the United States and the United Mexican States; and be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That the committee submit a full report including | ||
findings and recommendations, to the 84th Texas Legislature when it | ||
convenes in January, 2015. |
