Senate Resolution No. 1049 BY: Senator PARKER COMMENDING Making the Impossible Possible, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Power of Partnerships, Scholarship and Hall of Fame Gala on May 28, 2023, and paying tribute to this year's honorees WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those illustrious organizations of the State of New York whose focus and intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their communities; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Making the Impossible Possible, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Power of Partnerships, Scholarship and Hall of Fame Gala on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 26 Bridge, Brooklyn, New York, and to pay tribute to this year's honorees; and WHEREAS, This year's distinguished honorees include: Monique M. Simpson, Denese Veira-Wilson, Apostle Dr. Chloe Natacha Aurelien, Julius Adeoye, Reverend Dr. Michael O. Aurelien, Chui Man Lai, Nancy Esposito, Atia Shahnaz, Glenda Esperance, Dieunait Jules, and Rickard Jean-Noel; and WHEREAS, Making the Impossible Possible, Inc. (MIPO) is an organization dedicated to promoting the quality of life of immigrant youth and their families residing in the New York metropolitan area through a variety of activities; and WHEREAS, Furthermore, projects range from organizing youth summits, awarding scholarships to local high school graduating seniors, to supporting schools in Haiti with short and long-term projects, and conducting professional development training for educators in Haiti; and WHEREAS, Through its intensive training program, Teacher Leaders have the task of training other educators to use research-based techniques and methods learned from the expertise of MIPO's team which in return will influence student achievement; and WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, Making the Impossible Possible has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities which it serves; and WHEREAS, The success of Making the Impossible Possible is in direct correlation to the efforts of its Founder and President, Felina Backer, as well as its dedicated members, volunteers, and advisors whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commend Making the Impossible Possible, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Power of Partnerships, Scholarship and Hall of Fame Gala on May 28, 2023, and paying tribute to this year's honorees; and be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Felina Backer, Founder and President, Making the Impossible Possible, Inc.; and the aforementioned honorees.
