AN ACT

 

amending Title 15, chapter 16, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-2033; relating to the school facilities board.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 16, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-2033, to read:

START_STATUTE15-2033.  Damaged school buildings and facilities; replacement; building renewal grants

Notwithstanding section 15‑2032, the school facilities board may award monies from the building renewal grant fund to a school district to replace a damaged school building or facility as follows:

1.  The school facilities board shall initiate the request for monies after a school district submits information on the damaged school building or facility to the school FACILITIES board.

2.  The school facilities board or the school district shall obtain an estimate of the cost to replace the school building or facility.

3.  If the cost to repair the school building or facility exceeds the cost to replace the building or facility, the school facilities board shall submit a project proposal to the joint committee on capital review to replace the school building or facility with monies from the building renewal grant fund.

4.  If the Joint committee on capital review approves the project proposal submitted pursuant to PARAGRAPH 3 of this section, the school facilities board may award monies to the school district from the building renewal grant fund to replace the school building or facility. END_STATUTE
