| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Jerry Vance, who is retiring after 16 years of | ||
| exceptional service as the Liberty Hill High School head football | ||
| coach; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the course of his distinguished career at | ||
| Liberty Hill High School, Coach Vance has amassed a record of | ||
| 164-57; his Liberty Hill Panthers captured back-to-back Class 3A | ||
| state championships in 2006 and 2007 while in the midst of a | ||
| 38-game winning streak; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Coach Vance is known for his success in using the | ||
| Slot-T formation, which relies heavily on a rushing attack, | ||
| instead of the trendier high-powered passing attacks favored by | ||
| other coaches; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Coach Vance has amassed an impressive record on | ||
| the field, and during his 40-year career in coaching football, he | ||
| has consistently placed great importance on developing lasting | ||
| relationships with his students; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An exemplary educator and an inspirational coach, | ||
| Jerry Vance has had a profound influence on the lives of | ||
| countless young people, and his presence at Liberty Hill High | ||
| School will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Jerry Vance on his many years of | ||
| success on and off the field and extend to him best wishes for | ||
| continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
