WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the | ||
passing of Doris Jane Sheridan on September 20, 2023, at the age of | ||
81; and | ||
WHEREAS, The former Doris Burchfield was born near Leonard on | ||
September 8, 1942, to Byrd and Melvia Burchfield, and she grew up | ||
with five siblings, Peggy, Bobby, Jimmy, J. W., and Dorothy; her | ||
family lived in Pilot Grove and then relocated to Whitewright, | ||
where she was salutatorian of her high school class; and | ||
WHEREAS, She and her future husband, Lewis Sheridan, met in | ||
high school; the couple exchanged wedding vows on August 26, 1960, | ||
and they went on to share a rewarding marriage that spanned more | ||
than six decades; deeply devoted to her family, Mrs. Sheridan was a | ||
loving wife and a caring mother to her three children, Gerald, | ||
Carla, and Bo; later in life, she was blessed with eight | ||
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a woman of faith, she | ||
sang in her church choir and taught Sunday school for many years; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, After moving to Paris, Texas, Mrs. Sheridan was | ||
employed by Ideal Bakery and then by Uarco; she later contributed | ||
her accounting expertise to her work with the Texas Department of | ||
Transportation, where she ultimately retired in 2005; and | ||
WHEREAS, Although Doris Sheridan is greatly missed, memories | ||
of her engaging smile, her deep compassion, and her unwavering love | ||
for others will remain to comfort and inspire those she leaves | ||
behind; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 4th | ||
Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Doris Jane | ||
Sheridan and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: | ||
to her husband, Lewis Sheridan; to her children, Gerald Sheridan | ||
and his wife, Tina, Carla Spann and her husband, Phil, and "Bo" | ||
Sheridan and his wife, Tralisa; to her grandchildren, Keith | ||
Sheridan and his wife, Stefanie, Kyle Sheridan and his wife, Jenna, | ||
Kacie Bone and her husband, J. D., Brooke, Leslie, and Jansen Spann, | ||
Leigha Youngblood and her husband, Kelby, and Landry Sheridan; to | ||
her great-grandchildren; to her siblings, J. W. Burchfield and his | ||
wife, Joyce, and Dorothy Huckaby and her husband, Jim; and to her | ||
other relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this | ||
day, it do so in memory of Doris Sheridan. |
