relating to Medicaid managed care accreditation. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 533.0031, Government Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
(c) The Commission may not award a managed care organization | ||
a contract to provide services under the state's Medicaid Managed | ||
Care Program unless that managed care organization has been | ||
accredited or has initiated the process of becoming accredited by a | ||
nationally recognized accrediting organization that: | ||
(1) is required by no fewer than ten state Medicaid | ||
programs as a sole accreditor; | ||
(2) distinguishes managed care organizations for the | ||
integration of long-term services and supports; and | ||
(3) distinguishes managed care organizations for | ||
their ability to provide culturally and linguistically sensitive | ||
services, and work to reduce health care disparities. | ||
SECTION 2. Changes made by this Act apply only to a contract | ||
awarded by the Health and Human Services Commission on or after the | ||
effective date of this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
