A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 56-5-1030, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO UNLAWFUL INTERFERENCE WITH TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AND RAILROAD SIGNS AND SIGNALS, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THIS SECTION ALSO APPLIES TO PORTABLE ROAD CLOSURE SIGNS AND DEVICES, AND TO THE UNLAWFUL REPOSITIONING OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AND RAILROAD SIGNS AND SIGNALS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 56-5-1030(A) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(A) No person shall wilfully without lawful authority attempt to or in fact alter, deface, injure, knock down, reposition, or remove an official traffic-control device, a portable road closure sign or device, or a railroad sign or signal, or its inscriptions, shields, or insignia."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
