        Introduced  by  Sen. SKOUFIS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism,
          Parks and Recreation

        AN ACT in relation  to  permitting  certain  municipalities  to  receive
          reimbursement  from the state for law enforcement activities on water-
          ways within their jurisdiction

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 79-b of the navi-
     2  gation  law,  any  municipality  in a county whose population is between
     3  390,000 and 425,000 inhabitants, and whose police department  patrols  a
     4  waterway within the jurisdiction of such municipality, shall be eligible
     5  to  apply  for reimbursement for expenses incurred in the enforcement of
     6  the applicable provisions of the navigation law  regardless  of  whether
     7  the county has filed an application for reimbursement; provided that the
     8  total  amount  reimbursed  to  the municipality and the county shall not
     9  exceed the maximum reimbursement as set forth in such section  79-b,  as
    10  determined by the department of parks, recreation and historic preserva-
    11  tion.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
