        Introduced  by  Sen.  PARKER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern-
          ment Operations -- recommitted to the Committee on Investigations  and
          Government  Operations  in  accordance  with  Senate Rule 6, sec. 8 --
          committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as  amended  and
          recommitted to said committee
        AN  ACT  to amend the legislative law, in relation to creating a cost of
          living adjustment to be applied to the  salaries  of  members  of  the
          legislature
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Section 5-a of the legislative law is amended by  adding  a
     2  new subdivision 4 to read as follows:
     3    4.  Notwithstanding  any  other  provisions of this section, as of the
     4  first Wednesday in January of the year two thousand seventeen and  every
     5  second  year  thereafter,  such  base  allowance  shall  be increased or
     6  decreased at the same rate as  increases  or  decreases  in  the  median
     7  household  income  for  the  state for the preceding two year period, as
     8  ascertained by the governor.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
