        HONORING  Carmen Lopez de Linero upon the occasion
        of her designation for special  recognition  at  the
        3rd  Annual  Women's  History  Month  Celebration on
        March 23, 2019

  WHEREAS, Women's History Month, celebrated each year in March, is  a
time  to  reflect  upon  and  pay  tribute to the women of our State and
Nation  for  their  contributions  to  their   communities   and   their
professions; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  custom of this Legislative Body that women of
every economic, ethnic, and religious background have  made  significant
contributions to their community and to the State of New York, and it is
appropriate   to  recognize  them  and  to  publicly  acknowledge  their
endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among us all; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Carmen  Lopez de Linero upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition at the 3rd  Annual  Women's  History  Month  Celebration  on
Saturday, March 23, 2019, at The Rye Arts Center, Rye, New York; and

  WHEREAS,  A  resident  of Harrison, New York, Carmen Lopez de Linero
has truly devoted herself to  the  welfare  of  her  community  and  its
citizenry; and

  WHEREAS,  Carmen  Lopez  de  Linero  was  born on April 15, 1963, in
Mexico City; as a young girl, she observed the dedication and hard  work
of  her  father, as well as the welcoming generosity and kindness of her
mother, and thus began her interest in serving others; and

  WHEREAS, During this time, Carmen Lopez de Linero devoted herself to
the well-being of those  around  her  and  began  teaching  reading  and
writing to illiterate members of her hometown community; and

  WHEREAS,  Carmen  Lopez  de  Linero and her family immigrated to the
United States in 1997, when her husband's job took the couple and  their
daughters  to Miami, Florida; the family then moved to Paris, France for
three years before settling in Harrison in 2007; and

  WHEREAS, One year later, Carmen Lopez de Linero  began  volunteering
with  the  Salesians of Don Bosco in Port Chester, where she distributed
food and clothing to those in need; in July of 2016, she  was  asked  to
take charge of the organization's Outreach Program; and

  WHEREAS,   With   a  steadfast  and  unwavering  commitment  to  her
community, Carmen Lopez de Linero currently educates adults at La  Plaza
de  Paulo,  teaching  English  as  a  second  language, computer skills,
Spanish for English-speakers, and basic literacy in Spanish; and

  WHEREAS, With  her  throughout  have  been  her  husband  and  their
daughters,  who  have  all shown her love and support and rejoice in her
many achievements; and


  WHEREAS,  Rare  indeed  is  the  impressive  dedication  shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Carmen Lopez  de  Linero  has
displayed throughout her life; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown  a
long  and  sustained  commitment to excellence certainly have earned our
recognition and applause; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  Carmen  Lopez  de Linero upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition at the 3rd Annual Women's History Month  Celebration
on March 23, 2019; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Carmen Lopez de Linero.
