STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8149 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY June 4, 2019 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. O'DONNELL -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to requiring the disclo- sure of disabled tenants' rights to reasonable accommodations The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 296 of the executive law is amended by adding a new 2 subdivision 2-b to read as follows: 3 2-b. Every owner, lessee, sub-lessee, assignee, or managing agent of 4 publicly-assisted housing accommodations or other person having the 5 right of ownership or possession of or the right to rent or lease such 6 accommodations shall disclose to all tenants and prospective tenants of 7 their right to request reasonable modifications and accommodations if 8 they have a disability pursuant to subdivision two-a of this section. 9 § 2. Section 296 of the executive law is amended by adding a new 10 subdivision 18-a to read as follows: 11 18-a. Every owner, lessee, sub-lessee, assignee, or managing agent of, 12 or other person having the right of ownership of or possession of or the 13 right to rent or lease housing accommodations shall disclose to all 14 tenants and prospective tenants of their right to request reasonable 15 modifications and accommodations if they have a disability pursuant to 16 subdivision eighteen of this section. 17 § 3.
