A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to appropriate funds to provide staff for the indian affairs commission.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Administration, Commission of Indian Affairs, the sum of two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) in nonrecurring funds for the 2017‑2018 fiscal year and the sum of two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) in recurring funds for the 2018‑2019 fiscal year. The funds shall be used to create two full‑time equivalent Paralegal I positions, one full‑time equivalent Administrative Officer I position, and two full‑time equivalent research specialist positions for a Genealogist/Research Specialist. The Commission shall use the additional personnel to conduct historical research and analysis; to perform genealogical analysis; to prepare findings and conclusions associated with the research; and to assemble, prepare, and submit findings and conclusions to the State recognition committee of the Commission of Indian Affairs.
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2017.
