A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE HARTFIELD ACADEMY "LADY HAWKS" SOFTBALL TEAM AND COACH TODD AULTMAN FOR WINNING THE MAIS AAAAAA FAST PITCH SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THREE YEARS.

     WHEREAS, the Hartfield Academy "Lady Hawks" Girls Softball Team has once again emerged victorious, clinching the MAIS AAAAAA Fast Pitch Softball Championship for the second time in three years.  Their remarkable journey to the title included a season full of impressive wins, a commanding performance over rival Jackson Prep, and wrapping up the season with an outstanding record; and

     WHEREAS, this remarkable team has established a tradition of excellence in recent years, securing the 6A State Championship two out of the last three years.  This year, they continued their winning streak, capping it off with back-to-back victories over Jackson Prep in the Championship Series.  Notably, Hartfield Academy had already defeated Jackson Prep earlier in the season, which added an extra layer of anticipation to the Championship showdown; and

     WHEREAS, Hartfield Softball, under the leadership of Coach Todd Aultman, wrapped up the season with an impressive 21-9 overall record.  Their performance in Conference play was equally impressive, finishing with a 9-1 record and securing the #1 seed.  The only loss in Conference play came in a closely fought extra-innings battle against PCS, a testament to their resilience and determination; and

     WHEREAS, throughout the state tournament, the "Lady Hawks" remained undefeated, earning their place in the best-of-three Championship Series.  The first game, played at home, resulted in a hard-fought 5-3 victory, setting the stage for the final showdown at Jackson Prep; and

     WHEREAS, in the Championship Game, Hartfield Academy found themselves in a challenging situation, trailing 5-0 after just two innings.  However, these "Lady Hawks" showcased incredible determination, mounting an inspiring comeback to secure an 8-6 victory.  The thrilling win not only earned them the State Title but also marked the second time in the program's history that they had claimed the Championship.  This remarkable victory also marked the first time in Hartfield softball history that they achieved an undefeated season over their rivals, Jackson Prep; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Aultman, Coach McKinney, and the entire Hartfield Academy Community are overflowing with pride for the girls softball team's outstanding achievement.  This Championship win not only reflects the players' exceptional skills but also their teamwork, unwavering spirit and determination; and

     WHEREAS, the Hartfield Academy Girls Softball Team's Championship triumph is not just a victory; it's a testament to their dedication and the remarkable bond they share as teammates.  Their legacy in the world of softball continues to grow, and the future is promising for this talented and spirited group of athletes; and

     WHEREAS, the 2023 Hartfield Academy "Lady Hawks" Girls Softball Championship Team Roster:  Heidi Moore, Ana Campbell Singletary, Caroline Cronin, Faith Tillery, Carson Smith, Addyson "Roo" Roberts, Aleigh Newman, Braxtyn Jones, Addyson Adams, Raegan Huber, Shamya Williams, Kyleigh Seymour, Brelyn "Bre" Wright and Cambrie Barnard; Head Coach Todd Aultman; and Assistant Coaches Julie McKinney and Brooke Fagan; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Hartfield Academy "Lady Hawks" Softball Team and Coach Todd Aultman for winning the MAIS AAAAAA Fast Pitch Softball Championship for the second time in three years, and extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Hartfield Academy Coach Todd Aultman and Principal Jim Delaughter for the team, forwarded to the Hartfield Academy Board of Trustees and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
