SENATE RESOLUTION


     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Whitko High School art students on winning four medals at the 41st World School Children's Art Exhibition in the Republic of China, Taipei.

    Whereas, Art students from Whitko High School competed at the 41st World School Children's Art Exhibition in the Republic of China, Taipei from August 26, 2010 through September 19, 2010;

    Whereas, The purpose of the exhibition is to promote mutual understanding and friendship among the young generation of the world through the exchange of children's art work;

    Whereas, Art students from all over the world submitted oil paintings, water colors, wood cut prints, pencil sketches, crayon drawings, pastels, collages, etchings, graphic designs, and various other art works as entries into the exhibition;

    Whereas, Whitko High School art students did extremely

well at the exhibition, with Joanna Brenneman winning a silver medal, and Zach Cox, Alex Stoddard, Laura Hippensteel, and Chloe Nestel each winning a selected medal;

    Whereas, Whitko High School was one of twelve schools representing the United States of America in the exhibition. Overall, the United States won two gold, two silver, and 41 selected medals;

    Whereas, To date, Whitko High School art students have received 27 state, 35 national, and 138 international awards; and

    Whereas, Competing and winning medals at the World School Children's Art Exhibition is a tremendous accomplishment for the art students from Whitko High School and merits recognition: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates Whitko High School art students on winning four medals at the 41st World School Children's Art Exhibition.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Walter C. Malicki.
