2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Leroy Alphonse "Lee" Alfano, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on June 15, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Leroy Alfano was born in Chicago to Alfonso Alfano | ||||||
6 | and Grace Vitacco on February 6, 1925; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Leroy Alfano worked for the Des Plaines Police | ||||||
8 | Department for 30 years; he retired in 1985 after seven years | ||||||
9 | as Chief; he oversaw the biggest case in department history - | ||||||
10 | the investigation into John Wayne Gacy in 1978; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Leroy Alfano spent his retirement on his ranch in | ||||||
12 | Prescott, Arizona, where he achieved his dream of becoming a | ||||||
13 | cowboy and enjoyed riding horses with his wife; his ranch | ||||||
14 | provided horses for children with special needs through a | ||||||
15 | church youth group; he was a member of the Yavapai County | ||||||
16 | Mounted Sheriff's Posse; and

17 | WHEREAS, Leroy Alfano was preceded in death by his wife of | ||||||
18 | 67 years, Janet (Esdohr); his sisters, Minnie, Rose, and | ||||||
19 | Lillian; and his parents; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Leroy Alfano is survived by his son, Jerry (Edie); |

1 | his daughter, Jody Peterson; his grandsons, Craig (Rachel), | ||||||
2 | Eric Yingling, and Scott (Jenny) Yingling; his | ||||||
3 | great-grandsons, Zane and Bridger Peterson; and numerous | ||||||
4 | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | Leroy Alphonse "Lee" Alfano, and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
8 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
9 | it further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Leroy Alfano as an expression of our | ||||||
12 | deepest sympathy.
