2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of United States Army Specialist Norman Cain | ||||||
4 | III of Mount Morris, formerly of Freeport, who was killed in | ||||||
5 | action near Kot in the Nangarhar province in eastern | ||||||
6 | Afghanistan; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Spc. Norman Cain III was born on November 23, 1986 | ||||||
8 | in Madison, Wisconsin; he was the son of Norman L. and Lisa | ||||||
9 | (Wise) Cain Jr.; he married the love of his life, Brigette | ||||||
10 | Peterson, on July 3, 2008 in Mount Morris; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Freeport High School; after | ||||||
12 | high school, he attended the Highland Community College Auto | ||||||
13 | Mechanics School; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, He joined the Illinois National Guard on July 27, | ||||||
15 | 2007; he served his country with pride and distinction as a | ||||||
16 | member of Company D, 1st Battalion of the 178th Infantry | ||||||
17 | Division based out of Woodstock; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, He enjoyed working on cars, playing darts, and | ||||||
19 | picking on his brothers and sisters; his greatest joy in his | ||||||
20 | life, however, was his family; and

1 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his paternal | ||||||
2 | grandfather, Norman Cain Sr.; his paternal great-grandparents; | ||||||
3 | and his maternal great-grandfather; and

4 | WHEREAS, He is survived by his wife, Brigette; his parents, | ||||||
5 | Norman L. (Tina) Cain Jr. and Lisa (Mark) Otto; his son, Toryn | ||||||
6 | Cain; his step-daughter, Fallon Spielman; his paternal | ||||||
7 | grandmother, JoAnn Cain; his maternal grandmother, Pamela | ||||||
8 | Wise; his maternal great-grandmothers, Delta Mooney and Reva | ||||||
9 | Wise; his brothers, Zachery Otto and Michael and Andrew Bower; | ||||||
10 | his sisters, Breeana Otto and Courtney Bower; and his nephew, | ||||||
11 | Ayden Shores; and

12 | WHEREAS, Spc. Cain's patriotism and courage will be | ||||||
13 | remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow soldiers, | ||||||
14 | and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
17 | his family and friends, the death of United States Army | ||||||
18 | Specialist Norman Cain III; and be it further

19 | RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Specialist Norman | ||||||
20 | Cain III and his willingness to serve our country, which led to | ||||||
21 | him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
