| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to honor the Shen Yun Performing Arts | ||||||
| 4 | show; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world's premier | ||||||
| 6 | traditional Chinese dance and music company; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Shen Yun introduces audiences to a world of | ||||||
| 8 | heavenly realms, ancient heroes, and the themes of virtue, | ||||||
| 9 | compassion, and courage; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, For 5,000 years of Chinese history, China's | ||||||
| 11 | divinely imparted culture, including Chinese dance, music, and | ||||||
| 12 | other art forms, was continuously refined as its elegance | ||||||
| 13 | developed; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The Shen Yun show aims to be a showcase of | ||||||
| 15 | traditional Chinese culture, a platform for cross-cultural | ||||||
| 16 | understanding between the East and West, and a unifying event | ||||||
| 17 | for all people interested in Chinese culture and performing | ||||||
| 18 | arts; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois prides itself on having a | ||||||
| 20 | thriving arts community, as well as audiences that truly | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | appreciate the beauty of our diversity; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Shen Yun shows will be held at the Cadillac Palace | ||||||
| 3 | Theatre in Chicago on March 6-8, 2015; Shen Yun shows are | ||||||
| 4 | sponsored by the Mid-USA Falun Dafa Association, an | ||||||
| 5 | organization dedicated to the promotion and practice of the | ||||||
| 6 | principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance" and | ||||||
| 7 | that endeavors to extend far and wide these most precious and | ||||||
| 8 | noble human ideals, and by Sound of Hope Radio, an independent | ||||||
| 9 | Chinese-language media company and a not-for-profit | ||||||
| 10 | organization dedicated to facilitating cross-cultural | ||||||
| 11 | communications between the East and West and assisting the | ||||||
| 12 | public in their search for valuable cultural knowledge; | ||||||
| 13 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 15 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 16 | honor the Shen Yun Performing Arts troupe, thank them for their | ||||||
| 17 | visits to the State of Illinois, and wish them continued | ||||||
| 18 | success in all their endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to the Shen Yun Performing Arts troupe as a symbol of | ||||||
| 21 | our respect and esteem.
