A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY.
BE IT
ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $50,000,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2019-2020 for updating the following capital improvements projects for the department of public safety:
1. Facility, ADA, and sustainability
master plans, statewide $10,000,000
2. Kauai community correctional center
for new medium security
housing, Kauai $9,700,000
3. Hawaii community correctional center
for new medium security housing,
Hawaii island $8,100,000
4. Maui community correctional center
for new medium security
housing, Maui $8,000,000
5. General administration, lump sum CIP,
statewide $4,700,000
6. Women's community correctional center
to
renovate Hookipa makai cottage for
new
women's housing, Oahu $2,500,000
7. Site assessment study
for new Kauai
community correctional center,
Kauai $2,500,000
8. Site assessment study
for new Hawaii
community correctional center,
Hawaii island $2,500,000
9. Related expenses $2,000,000
Total funding $50,000,000
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of public safety for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 2. The appropriations made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2022, shall lapse as of that date.
SECTION
3. This Act shall take effect on July 1,
2050.
