AN ACT REQUIRING A STUDY OF THE USE OF MEDICAID TO COVER THE COST OF HEALTH INSURANCE FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (Effective July 1, 2015) The Department of Social Services, in collaboration with the Board of Regents for Higher Education and The University of Connecticut, shall study the effectiveness of requiring state Medicaid to pay the cost of premiums for health insurance sponsored by a constituent unit, as defined in section 10a-1 of the general statutes, and provide supplemental health insurance coverage for students enrolled in a constituent unit who are (1) not covered by any other health insurance plan, and (2) eligible for state Medicaid benefits.
