AN ACT REQUIRING INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH UNIFORM FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2013) Each institution of higher education, as defined in section 10a-55 of the general statutes, shall provide uniform financial aid information, well in advance of such institution's enrollment deadline, to every prospective student who has been accepted for admission to such institution. Each institution of higher education shall use the financial aid shopping sheet developed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the United States Department of Education to provide such information.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:

To require institutions of higher education to provide financial aid information in a uniform way to ensure that students understand their true higher education costs.
