AN ACT
Establishing the study committee on special education weights and funding for gifted pupils.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Study committee on special education weights and funding for gifted pupils; membership; duties; report; delayed repeal
A. The study committee on special education weights and funding for gifted pupils is established consisting of the following members:
1. Five members of the house of representatives, who are appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives, three of whom shall be members of the majority party and two of whom shall be members of the minority party. The speaker of the house of representatives shall designate one of these members as the chairperson of the study committee.
2. Five members of the senate, who are appointed by the president of the senate, three of whom shall be members of the majority party and two of whom shall be members of the minority party. The president of the senate shall designate one of these members to serve as the vice chairperson of the study committee.
B. The study committee shall meet as often as the members deem necessary.
C. The study committee shall examine and make recommendations regarding special education weights and funding for gifted pupils.
D. The house of representatives and the senate shall provide staff assistance to the study committee as directed by the speaker of the house of representatives and the president of the senate.
E. On or before January 1, 2020, the study committee shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the speaker of the house of representatives and the president of the senate and shall provide a copy of this report to the secretary of state.
F. This section is repealed from and after January 15, 2020.
