AN ACT to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated, §16-1-20, relating to requiring the Bureau for Public Health to develop a Diabetes Action Plan.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:


ARTICLE 1. STATE PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM.


§16-1-20. Creation of Diabetes Action Plan.

The Bureau for Public Health shall create a Diabetes Action Plan. The action plan shall include the following: (a) Convening a diabetes task force consisting of a cross-sector of stakeholders to develop the scope of the plan; (b) conducting necessary data and infrastructure/gap analyses; (c) drafting a plan to include long and short term goals, high impact and outcome driven strategies for prevention, disease management and treatment, and evaluation strategies to be published for public comment; (d) produce briefing documents in support of and promoting the use of strategies outlined in the plan for distribution to stakeholders; (e) finalize and share the completed plan; (f) track and trend relevant statistics regarding diabetes; and (g) implement strategies identified in the plan to decrease the prevalence of diabetes in West Virginia. The plan shall be completed and presented to the Legislative Oversight Commission on Health and Human Resources Accountability by January 1, 2021.
