Summary

The purpose of this bill is to provide additional requirements for accident and sickness insurance. The bill: defines surprise bills, includes provisions to protect consumers from surprise bills in certain circumstances, requires additional disclosures by health care providers, hospitals and insurers, requires insurers to develop an access plan with certain components for consumers, and establishes how surprise bills are to be handled in certain circumstances.
