SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 132

Commending the Stafford High School competition cheer team.

WHEREAS, the Stafford High School competition cheer team earned its second consecutive state title with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship in November 2023; and

WHEREAS, the Stafford High School Indians previously won the 2022 Class 5 state championship before moving up to the Commonwealth's top classification for the 2023 season; and

WHEREAS, on the road to the 2023 state tournament, the Stafford Indians team won the district championship and placed second in the Region 6B championship; and

WHEREAS, the Stafford Indians scored 280.25 points in the state final to seal the win; the team was made up of seniors Reese Barbee, Kennedy Beggan, Natalie Beggan, Lily Bonner, and Brooke Lowry; juniors Mackenzie Barham, Annaka Boncich, Addison Cooper, Nyra Foosness, Dalton Gallahan, Malaya Johnson, and Riley Proudfoot; sophomores Lauren Harris, Jayda Jones, Ava Lengle, and Ella Pefoubou; and freshmen Anna Caple, Madison Craddock, Lilia Palmer, and Alyvia Stanley; and

WHEREAS, the Stafford Indians benefited from the exceptional leadership of co-head coach Janet Barham, who was selected as coach of the year, co-head coach Kristi Proudfoot, and assistant coaches Alyssa Guthrie, Taylor Rossi, & Ashley Bolinsky

WHEREAS, the victorious season is a testament to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes and the passionate support of their family, friends, and the entire Stafford High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Stafford High School competition cheer team on winning the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Stafford High School competition cheer team as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's outstanding achievements.
