WHEREAS, for 35 years, the Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association has helped the residents of the Commonwealth stay informed about key issues and better understand state government through its Cable Reports from the General Assembly series; and
WHEREAS, since 1981, the Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association (VCTA) has produced 30-minute, informal interviews with members of the General Assembly to give viewers a unique perspective of important issues; the VCTA tapes approximately 70 shows during each session; and
WHEREAS, Cable Reports from the General Assembly is hosted by the thoughtful and highly professional Lynwood "Woody" Evans, with Kimberly Voxland, the VCTA director of public relations, serving as executive producer; and
WHEREAS, the VCTA works with Comcast, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, MetroCast, Shentel, and other local partners, ensuring that its high-quality public programming reaches audiences throughout the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, the VCTA has made excellent use of technology to reach new audiences, and the VCTA Cable Reports from the General Assembly YouTube channel has had nearly 10,000 views since it launched in 2014; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association for more than 35 years of Cable Reports from the General Assembly; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for its informative content and service to the residents of the Commonwealth.
