A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 46.2-867.1, relating to recklessly running a red light or stop or yield sign.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 46.2-867.1 as follows:

§ 46.2-867.1. Recklessly running a red light or stop or yield sign.

Any person who, as a result of operating a motor vehicle in violation of § 46.2-821 or 46.2-833, unintentionally causes the serious bodily injury or death of another is guilty of reckless driving. No person shall be subject to prosecution under this section for a violation of § 15.2-968.1.
