WHEREAS, Sarah Depew is graduating from the Marshall-Wythe | ||
School of Law at the College of William & Mary in May 2023; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Depew first attended Collin College Plano | ||
Campus from 2001 to 2004 before transferring to Texas A&M | ||
University, where she earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's | ||
degree in psychology; she was also employed in a cognitive sciences | ||
laboratory studying the effects of language on perception; and | ||
WHEREAS, After earning her master's degree in 2008, Ms. Depew | ||
began working for the state's foster care system, ensuring the | ||
well-being of children and helping them to find safe and permanent | ||
homes; she left Child Protective Services in 2013 and continued to | ||
serve youth in foster care by providing them with free tutoring and | ||
volunteering with CASA of Collin County; in addition, she | ||
established a neighborhood free food pantry that offers vital | ||
support to families in need; she further demonstrated her | ||
commitment to her community by running for the Texas House of | ||
Representatives in 2018, all while raising two children as a | ||
stay-at-home mother; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Depew will graduate from law school with a | ||
concentration in international law, and she plans to return to | ||
Collin County to continue serving the community; and | ||
WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await this | ||
outstanding Texan, and it is a pleasure to join her family and | ||
friends in recognizing her as she embarks on a future bright with | ||
promise; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Sarah Depew on her graduation from | ||
the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary | ||
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all | ||
her endeavors; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Depew as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. |
