| WHEREAS, Sarah Depew is graduating from the Marshall-Wythe | ||
| School of Law at the College of William & Mary in May 2023; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Depew first attended Collin College Plano | ||
| Campus from 2001 to 2004 before transferring to Texas A&M | ||
| University, where she earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's | ||
| degree in psychology; she was also employed in a cognitive sciences | ||
| laboratory studying the effects of language on perception; and | ||
| WHEREAS, After earning her master's degree in 2008, Ms. Depew | ||
| began working for the state's foster care system, ensuring the | ||
| well-being of children and helping them to find safe and permanent | ||
| homes; she left Child Protective Services in 2013 and continued to | ||
| serve youth in foster care by providing them with free tutoring and | ||
| volunteering with CASA of Collin County; in addition, she | ||
| established a neighborhood free food pantry that offers vital | ||
| support to families in need; she further demonstrated her | ||
| commitment to her community by running for the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives in 2018, all while raising two children as a | ||
| stay-at-home mother; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Depew will graduate from law school with a | ||
| concentration in international law, and she plans to return to | ||
| Collin County to continue serving the community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await this | ||
| outstanding Texan, and it is a pleasure to join her family and | ||
| friends in recognizing her as she embarks on a future bright with | ||
| promise; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Sarah Depew on her graduation from | ||
| the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary | ||
| and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all | ||
| her endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Depew as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
