R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
  passing of Myriam Silvana Chavez of Houston on March 4, 2017, at the
  age of 51; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Dora Arellano de Saenz and Guillermo
  Saenz, Myriam Chavez was born on August 1, 1965, in Quito, Ecuador,
  where she grew up with the companionship of her brothers, Carlos and
  Diego, and attended school at Santo Domingo de Guzman and La
  Inmaculada de Quito; she began working as a computer programmer for
  the national oil company, Petroecuador, and there, she met her
  husband and the love of her life, Jaime Chavez; in 1990, the couple
  moved to Houston, and they subsequently welcomed a daughter,
  Catherine, and a son, Sebastian, into their family; and
         WHEREAS, Embarking on a rewarding career in the nonprofit
  sector, Ms. Chavez worked as an accountant at Foundation for Life
  before holding positions with the Holy Name Passionist Retreat
  Center and the Fort Bend Independent School District; in 2010, she
  returned to Foundation for Life to serve as business manager, and
  she tirelessly devoted herself to the organization's mission of
  supporting pregnant women and unborn children; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Chavez also dedicated herself to the fight
  against breast cancer, an undertaking that had a profoundly
  personal meaning for her as she valiantly battled the disease in the
  final years of her life; sustained by her deep and abiding faith,
  she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and was active
  in numerous church organizations; and
         WHEREAS, Though her time on this earth was far too brief,
  Myriam Chavez created an inspiring legacy of generosity and
  courage, and those who were fortunate enough to share in her
  friendship will forever cherish their memories of this kind and
  caring woman; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Myriam Silvana
  Chavez and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn her passing;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Myriam
  Chavez.
