R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
  generosity of Betty Lynn Pittman Hobgood of Happy, who passed away
  on May 13, 2017, at the age of 76; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Cranford and Dixie Pittman, the
  former Betty Pittman was born on July 23, 1940, in Hale County; she
  grew up near Petersburg with her brother, Billy, and sister, Sammie
  Jo, and attended Petersburg High School; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Hobgood worked for many years in the Abernathy
  school library; after moving to Happy in 1982, she held positions
  with Happy Grain and then with the Swisher County Treasurer's
  Office; she retired in 2010 as the Swisher County librarian; and
         WHEREAS, On February 14, 1959, she married Charles Hobgood,
  and the couple became the proud parents of a son, Jason, and two
  daughters, Gay and Jorene; with the passing years, her life was
  further enriched by six grandchildren, Amber, Julie, Clint, Justin,
  Lacy, and Jacob; and
         WHEREAS, This treasured woman was blessed over the past two
  decades with the companionship of Clyde Hancock, with whom she
  shared abundant love and laughter; she relished travel and counted
  a 2013 family trip to New York City as one of her favorite
  experiences; and
         WHEREAS, Sustained by her strong faith and possessed of a
  generous, irrepressible spirit, Betty Hobgood brought joy to the
  lives of all who knew her, and they will forever hold her close in
  their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Betty Lynn Pittman
  Hobgood and extend heartfelt sympathy to her family and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Betty
  Hobgood.
