WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and | ||
generosity of Betty Lynn Pittman Hobgood of Happy, who passed away | ||
on May 13, 2017, at the age of 76; and | ||
WHEREAS, The daughter of Cranford and Dixie Pittman, the | ||
former Betty Pittman was born on July 23, 1940, in Hale County; she | ||
grew up near Petersburg with her brother, Billy, and sister, Sammie | ||
Jo, and attended Petersburg High School; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Hobgood worked for many years in the Abernathy | ||
school library; after moving to Happy in 1982, she held positions | ||
with Happy Grain and then with the Swisher County Treasurer's | ||
Office; she retired in 2010 as the Swisher County librarian; and | ||
WHEREAS, On February 14, 1959, she married Charles Hobgood, | ||
and the couple became the proud parents of a son, Jason, and two | ||
daughters, Gay and Jorene; with the passing years, her life was | ||
further enriched by six grandchildren, Amber, Julie, Clint, Justin, | ||
Lacy, and Jacob; and | ||
WHEREAS, This treasured woman was blessed over the past two | ||
decades with the companionship of Clyde Hancock, with whom she | ||
shared abundant love and laughter; she relished travel and counted | ||
a 2013 family trip to New York City as one of her favorite | ||
experiences; and | ||
WHEREAS, Sustained by her strong faith and possessed of a | ||
generous, irrepressible spirit, Betty Hobgood brought joy to the | ||
lives of all who knew her, and they will forever hold her close in | ||
their hearts; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Betty Lynn Pittman | ||
Hobgood and extend heartfelt sympathy to her family and many | ||
friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Betty | ||
Hobgood. |
