A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE WACCAMAW HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT'S CHAMPION ATHLETES ON THEIR EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCES AND TO WISH THEM WELL IN ALL THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is proud to hear of the wealth of athletic talent at Waccamaw High School, including many athletes who have distinguished themselves through high individual achievement in their respective sports; and

Whereas, such accomplishments do not come without much labor, talent, determination, and initiative on the part of those athletes who excel; and

Whereas, Waccamaw High School athletes recently have won special recognition in their chosen Class AAA sports; and

Whereas, in the fall of 2016, Coach David Dear's boys swimming 200 and 400 free relay team claimed the state championship for the second consecutive year due to the tremendous efforts of team members John Grey Crosby, Jonah Crosby, Sean King, and Patrick Sullivan; and

Whereas, in the spring of 2017, the Waccamaw High School boys golf team, under the leadership of Coach Nate Marozzi, claimed the state championship in boys golf; and

Whereas, also in the spring of 2017, Coach Bill Peterman's girls track team also enjoyed success when Briley Arnold won the state championship in the 400-meter hurdles; and

Whereas, Waccamaw High School's good fortunes continued into the fall of 2017 when state championships were claimed by Coach Brian White's girls cross country team and Coach Rob Del Bagno's boys cross country team; and

Whereas, also in the fall of 2017, girls swim team member Emma Sullivan, under the leadership of Coach David Dear, earned state championship honors in the 200 and 500 freestyle competitions; and

Whereas, with great admiration, the members of the House celebrate these fine young Waccamaw High School student-athletes for their athletic achievements and look to see them continuing in the path of excellence in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Waccamaw High School Athletic Department's champion athletes on their exceptional performances and wish them well in all their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal David Hammel and each coach and team member named above.
