AN ACT

Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the

2

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for

3

powers and duties of the Juvenile Court Judges' Commission.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

6

Section 1.  Section 6373 of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania

7

Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8

§ 6373.  Powers and duties.

9

The commission shall have the power and is required to do the

10

following:

11

(1)  Advise the juvenile court judges of this

12

Commonwealth in all matters pertaining to the proper care and

13

maintenance of delinquent and dependent children.

14

(2)  Examine the administrative methods and judicial

15

procedure used in juvenile courts throughout this

16

Commonwealth, establish standards and make recommendations on

17

the same to the courts presiding over juvenile proceedings

within this Commonwealth.

(3)  Examine the personnel practices and employment

3

standards used in probation offices in this Commonwealth,

4

establish standards and make recommendations on the same to

5

courts presiding over juvenile proceedings within this

6

Commonwealth.

(4)  Collect, compile, analyze and publish [such]

8

statistical and other data and trends in the juvenile justice

9

system as may be needed to accomplish reasonable and

10

efficient administration of the juvenile [courts] court 

11

system, and make recommendations to judges, the

12

Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts and other

13

entities as deemed appropriate.

14

(5)  Provide information regarding evidence-based

15

programs and other best practices that are consistent with

16

accomplishing the purposes set forth in section 6301(b)

17

(relating to short title and purposes of chapter). This

18

information, in addition to the data, analyses and trends

19

under paragraph (4) shall be posted on the commission's

20

Internet website.

21

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
