STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7032 IN SENATE (Prefiled) January 8, 2020 ___________ Introduced by Sen. CARLUCCI -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to mandating continuing medical education for pediatric primary care physicians on the topic of children's mental health The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 6524 of the education law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 12 to read as follows: 3 (12) Continuing medical education: all pediatric primary care physi- 4 cians, in order to maintain their license in good standing, shall be 5 required to complete a continuing medical education course on the topic 6 of children's mental health. Such course shall include trainings 7 provided by the office of mental health Project TEACH program. The regu- 8 lations of such course shall be prescribed by the department and the 9 office of the professions. 10 § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after 11 it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend- 12 ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen- 13 tation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and 14 completed on or before such effective date.
