        AN ACT authorizing the town of East Hampton, Suffolk county,  to  estab-
          lish a tick control district
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1.  The town of East Hampton, in the  county  of  Suffolk,  is
     2  hereby authorized to establish a tick control district pursuant to arti-
     3  cles  12  and  12-A of the town law. Such tick control district shall be
     4  established, funded, operated and otherwise controlled by the provisions
     5  of articles 12 and 12-A of the town law and the provisions of this  act.
     6  To  the  extent  that  the provisions of this act shall in any way be in
     7  conflict with articles 12 and 12-A of the town law,  the  provisions  of
     8  this act shall be controlling.
     9    §  2.  The  purpose of the tick control district shall be to take such
    10  action as may be required to adopt plans and  specifications  and  enter
    11  into  a  contract  or  contracts,  or  take such other actions as may be
    12  required, and shall be authorized to use every means feasible and  prac-
    13  tical  to  conduct surveillance and investigations related to tick popu-

     1  lations and presence of tick-borne diseases and to suppress ticks  which
     2  are  vectors of human disease requiring public action for their control.
     3  Such measures shall not be injurious to wildlife, human health,  or  the
     4  environment.
     5    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
