AN ACT to authorize the town of Sanford, in the county of Broome, to
dissolve the Sanford fire district and establish the Sanford fire
protection district
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the
2 town of Sanford, in the county of Broome, acting by and through its town
3 board, is hereby authorized, without receipt of a petition pursuant to
4 the provisions of section 185 of the town law and without the necessity
5 of conducting a public hearing, to adopt a resolution dissolving the
6 town of Sanford fire district and establishing the town of Sanford fire
7 protection district the boundaries of which shall be coterminous with
8 those of the former town of Sanford fire district.
9 S 2. Notwithstanding section 185 of the town law or any other incon-
10 sistent provisions of the law, upon dissolution of the Sanford fire
11 district in the town of Sanford, in the county of Broome, and the
12 creation of the Sanford fire protection district, all fire equipment and
13 apparatus of the Sanford fire district shall, without consideration
14 therefor, be transferred to and become the property of the town of
15 Sanford.
16 S 3. Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of law, upon the
17 dissolution of the town of Sanford fire district and the establishment
18 of the town of Sanford fire protection district any and all cash
19 balances and investments held by said fire district shall be transferred
20 to the town of Sanford. Such moneys shall be used for payment of any
21 remaining outstanding liabilities of the Sanford fire district and any
22 balance remaining after payment of such liabilities shall be transferred

1 to the town of Sanford. The payment of principal and interest on any
2 outstanding bonds or notes issued by the Sanford fire district shall be
3 assumed by said town.
4 S 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
