Senate Resolution No. 1149

        COMMENDING   P.S.   309   The  George  E.  Wibecan
        Preparatory Academy upon the occasion of hosting its
        2nd  Annual Breakfast for Dad on June 16, 2023

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to  recognize  and
commend   institutions  of  true  purpose  and  high  achievement  whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate  the  pursuit
of excellence in education and service to the community; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
commend  P.S.  309  The  George  E. Wibecan Preparatory Academy upon the
occasion of hosting its 2nd Annual Breakfast for Dad on Friday, June 16,
2023; and

  WHEREAS, Located in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn,
New York, P.S. 309 The George E. Wibecan Preparatory Academy is a public
school which is committed to instilling the  importance  of  health  and
wellness,  safety,  compassion, and support to the children and families
of the 309 community; and

  WHEREAS, P.S. 309's 2nd Annual Breakfast for Dad is  an  opportunity
to  celebrate  and  honor dads and father figures for the support, love,
and commitment they provide to  their  children;  during  the  inaugural
event held last year, more than 40 men were in attendance, showing their
support for their loved ones; and

  WHEREAS,  The  leadership,  teachers and staff of P.S. 309 recognize
the importance of positive male role models in a child's life  and  each
and  every  day, they watch them drop their children off in the morning,
pick them up  when  they  are  sick,  attend  early  morning  town  hall
meetings,  wipe  running  noses,  and  dry  the  tears  of  their crying
children; and

  WHEREAS, Since  its  inception,  P.S.  309  The  George  E.  Wibecan
Preparatory  Academy  has  demonstrated  an  impressive  dedication,  an
unparalleled commitment, and an unremitting enthusiasm for  the  quality
of the educational programs and opportunities offered for the benefit of
its  students, teachers, parents, alumni, and community; now, therefore,
be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
commend  P.S.  309  The  George  E. Wibecan Preparatory Academy upon the
occasion of hosting its 2nd Annual Breakfast for Dad on June  16,  2023;
and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ms. Harrison, School Counselor, P.S. 309  The  George  E.
Wibecan Preparatory Academy.
