Senate Resolution No. 909 BY: Senator HARCKHAM MOURNING the death of Dennis J. Sant Sr., distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this great Empire State; and WHEREAS, Dennis J. Sant Sr. of Brewster, New York, died on August 26, 2022, at the age of 75; and WHEREAS, Born on March 15, 1947, in Bronx, New York to Salvatore and Edith Sant, Dennis J. Sant Sr. and his family moved to Golden Bridge, before settling in Brewster; in 1966, he graduated from Brewster High School; and WHEREAS, Furthering his education, Dennis J. Sant Sr. graduated from Sullivan College and after college, he served our country in the US Air Force stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama; he honorably served from 1968 to 1972; and WHEREAS, Dennis J. Sant Sr. proudly served his community for over 30 years as Deputy County Clerk and later as County Clerk of Putnam County; he was also Auxiliary Past President and Trustee of the Brewster VFW Post No. 672; and WHEREAS, An avid sports lover, Dennis J. Sant Sr. excelled at football in high school; later as an adult, he studied Martial Arts and excelled to the teacher level of "Sifu"; and WHEREAS, One could often find Dennis J. Sant Sr. in his backyard with music playing, a fire pit lit, and enjoying another day with family and friends; and WHEREAS, After retirement, Dennis J. Sant Sr. enjoyed days at the lake, family vacations, writing, biking, moments with friends and family, and spending sunrise to sunset with his adoring wife Kathleen; most recently he worked on a book about hidden mysteries in Putnam County; and WHEREAS, Dennis J. Sant Sr. is survived by wife Kathleen (Sharkey) Sant, his brother Phil Sant, his 5 children and their spouses: Dennis Sant Jr and Lora Sant, Kristina and Eric Mongillo, Dawn and Carl Lawson, Rachel and Christian Zambrano, Elizabeth and David Ramirez, and 19 grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of compassion, Dennis J. Sant Sr. leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to mourn the death of Dennis J. Sant Sr., distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the family of Dennis J. Sant Sr.
