Senate Resolution No. 871

        HONORING   Jim  Dick  upon  the  occasion  of  his
        designation as a Volunteer of the Year by  The  Food
        Pantries on April 16, 2019

  WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize   and  acknowledge  those  within  our  midst  who  have  made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

  WHEREAS, From time to time  this  Legislative  Body  takes  note  of
certain  extraordinary  individuals  it  wishes  to  recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud  to  honor  Jim  Dick
upon  the  occasion of his designation as a Volunteer of the Year by The
Food Pantries to be celebrated  at  its  40th  Anniversary  Luncheon  on
Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Shaker Ridge Country Club, Albany, New York;
and

  WHEREAS,  Jim  Dick  has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; he is being recognized  for  his  extraordinary
contributions to the mission of The Food Pantries; and

  WHEREAS, Jim Dick has been a tireless volunteer with The Help Center
in Colonie, New York, for six years; and

  WHEREAS,  In  this capacity, Jim Dick goes above and beyond, helping
the pantry coordinator  with  ordering,  planning  events  and  building
repairs,  as well as offering free rides to patrons and befriending many
of the veterans who utilize the Center; and

  WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his  community  service,  a
period  of  constructive  involvement,  Jim  Dick  has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

  WHEREAS, Rare indeed  is  the  impressive  dedication  shown  by  an
individual  for  the  benefit  of  others  which  Jim Dick has displayed
throughout his life; and

  WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this  Legislative  Body
to  honor  and  support  those  individuals  who  have  displayed  their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the  intent
of  this  Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Jim Dick, that future generations may know and appreciate his  admirable
character,  his  many  benevolent  deeds,  and the respect and esteem in
which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  Jim  Dick  upon the occasion of his designation as a Volunteer of
the Year by The Food Pantries on April 16, 2019; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Jim Dick.
