        HONORING  Emma  Buckthal  upon the occasion of her
        designation as recipient of the Director's Community
        Leadership Award by the Buffalo  FBI  on  March  15,
        2019

  WHEREAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those singular individuals who  devote  their  purposeful
lives and careers to preserving the rights and protecting the welfare of
the citizens of their community and the State of New York; and

  WHEREAS,  The quality and character of life in the Buffalo community
is ably served and uniquely enriched through the selfless dedication and
benevolent concern of Emma Buckthal; and

  WHEREAS, This  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to  honor  Emma
Buckthal  upon  the  occasion  of  her  designation  as recipient of the
Director's Community Leadership Award by  the  Buffalo  FBI  on  Friday,
March 15, 2019; and

  WHEREAS,  An  immigration  attorney  with  the Erie County Volunteer
Lawyers Project, Emma Buckthal works with victims of  human  trafficking
and domestic violence as they go through the immigration process; and

  WHEREAS,  In  this capacity, Emma Buckthal serves with intellect and
passion, working tirelessly on behalf of her clients and ensuring  their
dignity is always maintained; and

  WHEREAS, A graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Law, Emma
Buckthal is the proud recipient of the 2016 New Lawyer of the Year Award
by  the  regional chapter of the Women's Bar Association of the State of
New York; and

  WHEREAS, Throughout her career thus far, Emma Buckthal has  remained
true  to her commitment, serving family, faith and community, as well as
the law;  her  contributions  and  accomplishments  have  brought  great
benefit  and positive influence to bear upon the course of jurisprudence
and the quality of life for others; and

  WHEREAS, Rare indeed  is  the  impressive  dedication  shown  by  an
individual  for  the benefit of others which Emma Buckthal has displayed
throughout her life; and

  WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this  Legislative  Body
to  honor  and  support  those  individuals  who  have  displayed  their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the  intent
of  this  Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Emma Buckthal, that future  generations  may  know  and  appreciate  her
admirable  character,  her  many  benevolent  deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor Emma Buckthal upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of

the  Director's  Community  Leadership Award by the Buffalo FBI on March
15, 2019; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Emma Buckthal.
