       Introduced  by  M.  of A. SALADINO, SWEENEY -- read once and referred to
         the Committee on Transportation -- committee discharged, bill amended,
         ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee
       AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of
         the state highway system in the hamlet  of  West  Babylon,  county  of
         Suffolk, as the "New York City Police Department Detective Peter Figo-
         ski Memorial Bridge"
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new  section  343-aa
    2  to read as follows:
    3    S  343-AA. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE
    4  "NEW YORK  CITY  POLICE  DEPARTMENT  DETECTIVE  PETER  FIGOSKI  MEMORIAL
    5  BRIDGE".  THE  BRIDGE  ON ROUTE 109 WHICH CROSSES THE SUNRISE HIGHWAY IN
    6  THE HAMLET OF WEST BABYLON, COUNTY OF SUFFOLK, SHALL BE  DESIGNATED  AND
    7  KNOWN  AS  THE  "NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT DETECTIVE PETER FIGOSKI
    8  MEMORIAL BRIDGE".
    9    S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the  instal-
   10  lation  and  maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
   11  as designated pursuant to section one of this  act;  provided  that,  to
   12  avoid  any  confusion  and to limit any possible disruption of commerce,
   13  the designation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall  be
   14  one  of ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not
   15  be changed as a result of this act.
   16    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
