STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6194 2023-2024 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY April 3, 2023 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. NORRIS -- read once and referred to the Committee on Election Law AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to removal of deceased voters and certain persons subject to forfeiture of the right to vote from the statewide voter registration list The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivisions 5 and 6 of section 5-614 of the election law, 2 as added by chapter 24 of the laws of 2005, are amended to read as 3 follows: 4 5. For purposes of removing names of ineligible voters from the list 5 of eligible voters, the state board of elections shall obtain and trans- 6 mit to local boards of elections, bi-monthly, (a) the list of persons 7 who have died maintained by the New York city department of health and 8 the state department of health, and (b) the list of persons subject to 9 forfeiture of the right to vote pursuant to section 5-106 of this arti- 10 cle maintained by the office of court administration or by a court 11 having made such determination. 12 6. Each local board of elections shall, within [twenty-five] fourteen 13 days after receiving such list of decedents or list of persons subject 14 to forfeiture of the right to vote pursuant to section 5-106 of this 15 article, use such lists to identify and remove decedents and persons 16 subject to forfeiture of the right to vote pursuant to section 5-106 of 17 this article from the list of eligible voters. 18 § 2.
