        AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to giving  notice  to  the
          public of upcoming elections
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. The election law is amended by adding a new  section  3-211
     2  to read as follows:
     3    §  3-211.  Boards  of  elections; notice of upcoming election. 1.  For
     4  each primary and general election, the board of elections shall mail  to
     5  at  least  one  registered  voter  in  each  household  a postcard which
     6  contains information for the upcoming election that contains the date of
     7  the election. The board  shall  send  the  postcards  twice  before  the
     8  election  with  the  second  mailing  to be made no later than five days
     9  before the election.
    10    2. For the ten days before each  primary  and  general  election,  the
    11  state board of elections shall require all television and radio stations
    12  using public airwaves or doing business within the state to inform their
    13  audience  at least four times each day between the hours of seven am and
    14  eleven pm of the upcoming election.
    15    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
