       AN ACT to amend the civil service law, in relation to  veterans  credits
         on competitive examinations
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1.  Subparagraphs 1 and 2 of paragraph (a) of subdivision 2 of
    2  section 85 of the civil service law, as added by chapter 790 of the laws
    3  of 1958, are amended to read as follows:
    4    (1)  Disabled veterans shall be entitled  to  receive  [ten]  THIRTEEN
    5  points  additional in a competitive examination for original appointment
    6  and [five] SIX points additional credit in a competitive examination for
    7  promotion, and
    8    (2)  Non-disabled veterans shall be entitled to receive  [five]  EIGHT
    9  points  additional  credit  in  a  competitive  examination for original
   10  appointment and [two] THREE and one-half points additional credit  in  a
   11  competitive examination for promotion.
   12    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
