       AN ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation  to  shared
         animal ownership agreements
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The agriculture and markets law is amended by adding a  new
    2  section 46-b to read as follows:
    3    S  46-B. SHARED ANIMAL OWNERSHIP AGREEMENT. SHARED ANIMAL OWNERSHIP IS
    4  ANY CONTRACTUAL ARRANGEMENT UNDER WHICH AN INDIVIDUAL:
    5    1. ACQUIRES AN OWNERSHIP INTEREST IN A MILK-PRODUCING ANIMAL;
    6    2. AGREES TO PAY ANOTHER FOR,  REIMBURSE  ANOTHER  FOR,  OR  OTHERWISE
    7  ACCEPT  FINANCIAL  RESPONSIBILITY  FOR  THE  CARE  AND  BOARDING  OF THE
    8  MILK-PRODUCING ANIMAL AT THE DAIRY FARM; AND
    9    3. IS ENTITLED TO RECEIVE A PROPORTIONATE SHARE OF  THE  ANIMAL'S  RAW
   10  MILK PRODUCTION AS A CONDITION OF THE CONTRACTUAL ARRANGEMENT.
   11    S  2.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
   12  have become a law. Provided that any rules and regulations necessary  to
   13  implement  the  provisions  of  this act on its effective date are imme-
   14  diately authorized and directed to be completed on or before such date.
