The commissioner of education is authorized and directed to 2 conduct a survey regarding instruction on the Holocaust within the 3 state. Such survey shall focus on identifying which school districts 4 subject to section eight hundred one of the education law provide 5 instruction on the Holocaust. Such survey shall include as appropriate, 6 questions on how the district is meeting the learning standards for 7 instruction requirements on the Holocaust pursuant to section eight 8 hundred one of the education law. Such survey shall also require an 9 attestation from each public school district superintendent that indi- 10 cates instruction related to the Holocaust is provided at all appropri- EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD00692-10-2A. 472--B 2 1 ate grade levels in compliance with section eight hundred one of the 2 education law. 3 § 2. Findings shall include detailed results of the survey, the extent 4 the survey data submitted was compliant with section eight hundred one 5 of the education law, and if needed, recommendations to strengthen 6 provisions of law if not compliant. A report of the findings of such 7 survey shall be delivered to the governor, the temporary president of 8 the senate, the speaker of the assembly, the minority leader of the 9 senate and the minority leader of the assembly no later than the first 10 of January one year following the effective date of this act. 11 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
