Summary

This bill authorizes the establishment of a New York City Liquor Authority (CLA) in and by the city of New York. Communities in the City of New York have complained that the State Liquor Authority (SLA) which is now empowered to monitor and enforce the rules and regulation of the SLA has too few inspectors to properly provide enforcement. The SLA issues liquor licenses without community input and does not effectively monitor and enforce the alcohol beverage control law. Therefore, quality of life has drastically been impacted. This bill will authorize the creation of the CLA, an agency in the City of New York, which will enable the locality an increased ability to monitor and enforce these laws, which greatly impact on our communities.
