A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR national society to PREVENT BLINDNESS – north carolina affiliate, inc.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, the sum of three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year.  These funds shall be allocated to National Society to Prevent Blindness – North Carolina Affiliate, Inc., in the following amounts:

(1)        $150,000 to provide vision screening for children enrolled in the More at Four program, Head Start, or Title 1 Pre‑K.

(2)        $150,000 to support critical needs in the Kenneth C. Royall Jr. Vision Screening Improvement Program to meet additional demands for training and materials resulting from increased early childhood vision screening requirements.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2010.
