A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds for REGIONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR K‑12 EDUCATORS.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction the sum of two million four hundred thousand dollars ($2,400,000) for the 2017‑2018 fiscal year and the sum of two million four hundred thousand dollars ($2,400,000) for the 2018‑2019 fiscal year to provide a grant of three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) per year to each of the eight regional educational training centers. The centers shall use the grants to provide quality professional development training for educators in the public schools.

These centers are the Northeast Regional Educational Service Alliance, the Southeast Regional Educational Service Alliance, the Western Regional Educational Service Alliance, the Northwest Regional Educational Service Alliance, the Piedmont Triad Education Consortium, the Central Carolina Regional Educational Service Alliance, the Southwest Regional Educational Service Alliance, and the Sandhills Regional Educational Service Alliance.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2018.
