A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE ALCORN CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL "LADY BEARS" DANCE TEAM, SPONSOR REBECCA LEWIS AND CHOREOGRAPHER MARLEY ASHE FOR WINNING THEIR THIRD CONSECUTIVE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, Alcorn Central High School "Lady Bears" Dance Team collected their third consecutive Mississippi High School Activities Association "Hip Hop Title" at the 2012 State Dance State Championship Competition in Jackson, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, the 14-member squad won the State Crown in only its fourth year of competition at the Mississippi Coliseum; and

WHEREAS, Alcorn Central defended its "Hip Hop Crown" in December 16, 2012, in the "Big House." The theme for the winning routine was "Take me back to Mississippi." Squads were allowed to compete no more than 2:20 minutes in the state event. Each team was judged on energy, difficulty, formation, technique, transition and synchronization; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Bears, who practice three times a week, also perform at home basketball games. The Alcorn Central High School Dance Team Roster is as follows: Seniors: Taylor Bordeleau (Captain), Brooke Odle (Co-Captain), Marnesha Green and Taylor Poindexter; Juniors: Lindsey Miller, Katie Smith, Alissa Ann Williams, Shelby Taylor and Kimball Beck; and Sophomores: Adrianna Ligon, Kayti Ligon, Nikki Robertson, Annie Moody and Brianna Robbins; and

WHEREAS, it is with pride that we note the accomplishments of this squad of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and commend the Alcorn Central High School "Lady Bears" Dance Team, Sponsor Rebecca Lewis and Choreographer Marley Ashe for winning their third consecutive Mississippi High School Activities Association State Championship "Hip Hop Title," and extend our best wishes to the team, coaches and parents for their success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Sponsor Rebecca Lewis and Choreographer Marley Ashe, Principal Tim Littlejohn, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
