Senate Concurrent Resolution 577
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NUMBER 1 RANKED RAYMOND HIGH SCHOOL "RANGERS" BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACH TONY TADLOCK FOR WINNING THE 2022 MHSAA 4A CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, on March 3, 2022, Senior Jabarie Robinson had 19 points and five rebounds as the Raymond High School "Rangers" Boys Basketball Team (29-5) cruised to a 67-46 victory over the Clarksdale Wildcats (26-8) at the Mississippi Coliseum; and
WHEREAS, Senior Tremaine Dixon finished with 17 points. The duo was a part of Raymond's 2019 Championship Team. Senior Christopher Fuqua added 13 points and four rebounds. Jabarie Robinson won Most Valuable Player; and
WHEREAS, Raymond knows about the heartbreak of losing the Boys Basketball State Championship. That's a reality the Rangers' Seniors had to face for the past two seasons. However, Raymond didn't let another chance at a State Title slip away against Clarksdale; and
WHEREAS, the Rangers led 14-11 to start the second quarter before taking over the game. Their lead extended to 46-26 following a 13-4 run to close the third quarter. Coach Tadlock credited the team's tough training schedule for their composure in the second half. Raymond never relaxed despite holding a double-digit lead; and
WHEREAS, the win under Head Coach Tony Tadlock is Raymond's first State Title since 2019. Raymond Coach Tony Tadlock explained, "This group of Seniors, I'm so proud of them. I'm going to miss those guys, but I'm super proud of their growth these last four years and being able to bring a gold ball back to Raymond"; and
WHEREAS, Raymond finished the season ranked No. 1 in the Clarion Ledger "Super 10" Final High School Boys Basketball Rankings. Raymond finished the season on a 20-game winning streak; and
WHEREAS, the 2021-2022 Raymond High School "Rangers" Boys Basketball Championship Team Roster is : Jabarie Robinson, Ge Kylenn Mosley, Christopher Fuqua, Zhakeius Jackson, Kedric Dixon, Jr., Eric Paymon, Dontavious Mack, Christian Noel, Christopher Stephens, Jr., Larry Lee, Jr., Matthew Gilliam, Demarion Terry, Adonis Dixon and Jayden Singleton; and Head Coach Tony Tadlock; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes who have brought honor to their team, their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Number 1 Ranked Raymond High School "Rangers" Boys Basketball Team and Coach Tony Tadlock for winning the 2022 MHSAA 4A Championship, and extend our best wishes to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors for future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Tony Tadlock and Raymond Principal Lorenzo L. Grimes, forwarded to the Hinds County School Board, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
